ControlWave RTU

The Control Wave Process Automation Controller is the latest high performance controller product, designed by Bristol Babcock. Designed with emphasis on modularity and ruggedness, the ControlWave will meet your control solution requirements, small or large.

The latest in technology, the ControlWave provides an ideal hybrid of the best capabilities found individually in a PLC, RTU, and DCS, and combines them into this unit.

Hardware Features:

  • 586 based processor provides high speed performance
  • Up to three 10/100 MB Ethernet ports, each with a unique TCP/IP address. Enables user to distribute network communications to reduce bottlenecks and create high priority links with other nodes.
  • Ethernet remote I/O.

  • Conveniently tie remote I/O modules over a LAN-WAN configuration.
  • Two or four serial communication ports

  • Attach a radio, modem, technicians' laptop, etc. using a standard serial cable without purchasing additional boards or cable interfaces (ie. PIC module)
  • 2, 4, or 8 slot panel mountable SST chassis or 19" rack mount for 8 slot unit
  • Hot Swap I/O replacement.
  • Allows for quick change out of modules without powering down the unit
  • Security key lock to prevent unauthorized access.
  • Internal loop power for I/O simplifies installation.
  • AO's hold last/preset value on CPU watchdog.
  • DO's hold last or zero value on CPU watchdog.
  • Wide temperature range (-40 to +70C).
  • Class 1, Div. 2 hazardous location and CE approval.

Software Features:

  • IEC 61131-3 with ACCOL 3
  • Multiple protocol support
  • On-Board alarm and historical database
  • FTP server

OpenBSI Utilities:

(Open Bristol System Interface) is a set of programming tools that runs in the Windows format and provides access to the ControlWave, Network 3000 controllers and RTU's. OpenBSI supports both serial BSAP Protocol and Ethernet Internet Protocol. This allows for great flexibility to connect ControlWaves, Network 3000 products and even third party products to the same network.

  • Communication engine for PC applications.
  • Supports ControlWave, Network 3000 products and IP protocols.
  • Supports RS-232, dial-line, cellular, radio, CDPD, satellite and Ethernet connections.
  • Allows for signal searches based on selective criteria for troubleshooting and program debugging.
  • Data Collector and Scheduler Utilities provides the capability to collect historical data on request or scheduled basis.

Netview:

Allows for configuring the communications network in a tree structure. A configuration wizard will aide in the setup for such parameters as node and IP addresses, alarm and message routing and network communication media.

Local Configuration Wizard:

Allows for local communication configuration with any attached ControlWave controller or RTU. Provides a means to download parameters, flash updates and cold boot settings.

DataView:

Used to collect and display several types of process data, including signal values, data array values, and signal lists.

Web Page Development:

A set of Active X controls allows communication access to the ControlWave and provides engineers the capability to develop their own custom web pages using any standard web development package such as Microsoft's FrontPage. The web page can be stored and accessed through the ControlWave itself, attached to the network.
